The Best Split Pea Soup

Split pea soup

  • 1 bag of dried split peas
  • 1 diced carrot
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 can of chicken or veg broth
  • 10 cups of water (you might want to add more when it’s done.  Depends on how thin or thick you like it)

This is the simplest recipe, but it is completely worth making.

Take a bag of dried split peas.  Throw the whole bag (well, not the bag) into the pressure cooker.  Then add a few pinches of kosher salt, ground pepper, garlic powder and a teeny pinch of parsley.  Then add the diced carrot and diced onion.  Add 10 cups of water and 1 can of chicken stock.  Cook this for exactly 11 minutes.  Stir it with a whisk to smooth it out.  DONE.
